Great Game For Central, And Another Win!

BRISTOL CENTRAL  4  CADBURY HEATH  1

March 9th 2014

The Bristol Central team returned to their own ground on a bright sunny morning with the pitch looking in good condition. Liam and Jake made a number of positional changes most of which worked extremely well in the first half. The back line of Teon, Caleb and Lemar was quite experimental but did all that was required of them with just one real scare in the first period of play. The Central midfield partnership of Jonathan and Morgan worked brilliantly. Morgan's ability to 'read the game' and his excellent positional play in front of the back line gave the defence a great shape. And Jonathan, freed from his normal defensive duties, was allowed to show his attacking brilliance and went forward with purpose and menace and was rewarded with a well- -taken opportunist goal.     Khari played as a lone striker for once and took a while to adapt to his new position but was always a threat and scored after gliding past three defenders. Sahr, usually used as a lone striker,  played wide left and seem to excel with much more space available to him and capped a great first half with two good goals. Taijon sent over some excellent corners and Lewis, our goalkeeper probably got a suntan as he had very little to do ! Half - Time  4 - 0.     With the game secure, our Coaches made five changes at the interval with the three goalscorers and the Twins, Caleb and Morgan being replaced. Unfortunately, this weakened the defence, and although we mounted a huge number of attacks, nobody was able to score again from our side. Ray came on in stead of Sahr and played really well, sending across two great passes and hitting the crossbar with a ferocious shot ! From the rebound, Andrei was unlucky not to find the net but the ball bounced awkwardly at a difficult height. Andrei also had a good free-kick well held by their goalkeeper. Nabil came on at Right back and had his usual good game and Taijon continually tore the Cadbury Heath defence to ribbons with his strong and skilful running and excellent crosses. His well- taken free - kick, after being fouled, was again well - held by their goalkeeper. Although Nabil and Taijon linked up well together, Nabil sometimes forgot he was a Defender(as he normally plays in the midfield) which meant there was a gap on the Right side of our defence. Jacob, who normally does such a great job at Left Back, looked a bit uncertain in the Middle of our defence.     All in all, I thought this was a good match(and another 3 points !) but the shape of the team did not look as good in the second half as it did in the first half. Alas, more dilemmas and more sleepless nights for our Managers ! How do they find the perfect positional combination with all this talent available to them ? Answers on a postcard please.....   Next up, Home to Whitchurch, who we beat 3 - 0 earlier on in the season.
